மாணவர்களும் மாநகர பேருந்தும்

கிட்டத்தட்ட சென்னையின் அனைத்து வழித்தட பேருந்துகளும் காலை மற்றும் மாலை வேளைகளில் பிதுங்கி வழியும் அளவுக்கு பயணிகளை ஏற்றி செல்கிறது. படிக்கட்டில் பயணிக்கும் பெரும்பாலானோர் 'வேறுவழி' இல்லாத காரணத்தாலும், செல்ல வேண்டிய இடத்துக்கு குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் செல்லவேண்டிய காரணத்தாலுமே இவ்வாறு பயணம் செய்ய வேண்டியதாகிறது. பெரும்பாலான இடங்களில் ஷேர் ஆட்டோக்கள் இயங்கினாலும், பெருகிவரும் மாநகர மக்கள் தொகைக்கு போதுமானதாக இல்லை.

மாநகர போக்குவரத்துக் கழகத்தால் போதுமான பேருந்துகளை இயக்க முடியவில்லை என்றால், தனியார்கள் பேருந்துகளை இயக்க அனுமதிக்கலாமே!

போதுமான பொது போக்குவரத்து இருந்தால் மட்டுமே, இதற்கு தீர்வு காண முடியும்.

பேருந்துகள், பேருந்து நிறுத்தங்களில் பயணிகள் இறங்க மற்றும் ஏற தேவையான கால அவகாசத்துடன் நிற்க வேண்டும். பெரும்பாலான பேருந்துகள் பயணிகள் இறங்க போதுமான நேரம் தருவதில்லை. இதனால் பயணிகள் படிக்கட்டு அருகே நின்றுகொண்டே பயணம் செய்ய வேண்டியதாகிறது. பேருந்துக்கு மத்தியில் இருக்கும் பயணிகள் படும் பாடு இருக்கிறதே... கேக்கவே வேண்டாம். இதில் சீக்கிரம் இறங்கசொல்லி நடத்துனரின் வசைச்சொல் வேறு.

இதுபோன்ற பயணிகளுக்கான சட்டங்கள் அனைத்தும் குளுகுளு அறையிலும், அரசு வாகனத்திலும் பயணிக்கும் அதிகாரிகள் முடிவு செய்வது காலக்கொடுமை. ஒவ்வொரு MTC பணிமனையிலும் மூன்று மாதங்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை 'ஓபன் ஹவுஸ்' எனப்படும் போக்குவரத்து உயரதிகாரிகள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் சந்திப்பு நடத்தப்பட வேண்டும். இதில் யார் வேண்டுமானாலும் கலந்துகொண்டு தங்களின் கருத்துக்களை தெரிவிக்கலாம் என்கிற விதிமுறைகளை கட்டாயம் உறுதி செய்ய வேண்டும்.

பயணிக்கும் பேருந்தின் தன்மையை, பாதுகாப்பை, பயணிகளை விட வேறு யார் சிறப்பாக சொல்ல முடியும்.

இங்கே மாணவர்களுக்கு அறிவுரை சொல்லும் போலீஸ் அதிகாரிகள், நிறுத்தங்களில் நிற்காமல், நிறுத்தத்தை விட்டு தள்ளி நிறுத்தும் ஓட்டுனர் மற்றும் நடத்துனர்களின் மீது 'ஆன் தி ஸ்பாட்' நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பார்களா?

நிர்வாக சீர்கேடுகளையும், மக்கள் மற்றும் அதிகாரிகளின் மெத்தனபோக்கையும், அடுத்தவர்களை குற்றம் சாட்டும் போக்கும் இந்த விபத்து தோலுரித்து காட்டிவிட்டது. சமுதாயத்தின் அனைத்து சீர்கேடுகளையும் சீர்தூக்கி பார்த்து, அதை சரிசெய்வதை விட்டுவிட்டு, அங்கங்கே பிரச்சனைகள் வரும்போது மட்டும் அதை அடைக்க பஞ்சர் போடும் வேலையை அதிகாரிகள் இனிமேலும் செய்யாமலிருக்க வேண்டுகிறேன். அதுவே எதிர்கால வாழ்கையின் பாதுகாப்புக்கு ஒரு அஸ்திவாரம்.

உங்கள் குழந்தைகளுக்கு பாதுகாப்பான உலகத்தையும் எதிர்காலத்தையும் விட்டு செல்லுங்கள். நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்காக சேர்த்து வைக்கும் பணம் எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் அவர்களை விட்டு கரையக்கூடும்.

மக்களின் மவுன புரட்சி வெல்லட்டும்

எவ்வளவு விலை உயர்த்தினாலும், பேருந்தில் மக்கள் கூட்டம் குறையாது என்பதே இந்த கட்டண உயர்வின் சாராம்சம். குறைந்த பட்ச கட்டணம் 5 ரூபாய் என்றாலும், 10 ரூபாய் ஆனாலும் மக்கள் பயணம் செய்து தான் ஆகவேண்டும். இது
மக்களே ஏற்படுத்திக்கொண்ட dependency . மக்கள் ஒன்றை புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும், இந்த நாட்டில், ஏன் இந்த உலகில், எல்லா பொருள்களின் விளையும் ஏறிக்கொண்டேதான் போகிறது, எறிய விலைவாசி ஒரு போதும் இறங்குவதில்லை. இது உலக உண்மை. இதை புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். அதற்கேற்ப தம்மை தயார் படுத்திக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

இது போன்ற விலையேற்றங்களை பொது மக்கள் எதிர்த்து நேரடியாகவோ அல்லது மறைமுகமாகவோ போராடுவதில்லை. என்னால் இதை அட்ஜஸ்ட் செய்துகொள்ள முடியும், இதற்கான போராட்டத்தில் நாம் ஈடுபட வேண்டியதில்லை என்று தனக்கு தானே ஒரு சமாதனம் செய்து கொள்கிறான். யாரவது போராடி விலையை குறைத்தால் அதனால் ஏற்படும் வசதியை அனுபவிக்க தயங்குவதில்லை.

இந்த விலை உயர்வை மக்களால் நீர்த்துப்போக செய்ய முடியும். போக்குவரத்து கழகங்களும், மின் துறையும், ஆவின் நிறுவனமும் இந்த விலை உயர்வால் எந்த நன்மையும் அடைய போவதில்லை என்பதை மக்கள் அரசுக்கு உணர்த்த முடியும், மக்கள் முயன்றால்.

நிர்வாக சீர்கேடு கொண்ட நிறுவனங்களுக்கு எவ்வளவுதான் சலுகை அளித்தாலும் அவை மீண்டு வர முடியாது என்பதை அரசுக்கு புரியவைக்க வேண்டும். ஓட்டை பையில் எவ்வளவு காசு போட்டாலும் அவை தங்காது.

இதற்கு மக்கள் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்?
பேருந்து பயணத்தை முடிந்த அளவு புறக்கணிக்க வேண்டும். விடுமுறை நாட்களில் எக்காரணம் கொண்டும் பேருந்தை பயன்படுத்தாதீர்கள். பால் பயன்பாட்டை சிறிது காலத்திற்கு குறைத்து கொள்ளுங்கள். அல்லது முற்றாக நிறுத்தி விடுங்கள். டிவி சீரியல் பார்ப்பதை நிறுத்துங்கள். மின்சார பயன்பாட்டை குறைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

இந்த மூன்று நிறுவனங்களும் மக்களை நம்பி தான் இயங்குகின்றன. மக்கள் இதன் பயன்பாட்டை குறைக்கும் போது தானாக நம்ம வழிக்கு வந்து விடும்.

இரண்டு நாட்கள் ஒட்டு மொத்த மக்களும் முற்றாக இந்த பயன்பாடுகளை நிறுத்துவதால், அதனால் ஏற்படக்கூடிய இழப்பை சரிகட்ட இந்த நிறுவனகளுக்கு பல வாரங்கள் பிடிக்கும்.

சாட்டை நம் கையில். சுத்துவதும் சுத்தாததும் நம் பொறுப்பு. அதை விடுத்தது அரசிடம் கெஞ்சுவதால் ஒன்றும் நடக்கபோவதில்லை.

Minvettu

Electricity shutdown or Power cut is called as ‘Minvettu’ in Tamil.

Power cut happens every day in Tamil Nadu. Villages and towns mostly affected by the power cut. In these areas usually power cut lasts for around 6 to 12 hours a day. It affects people’s day-to-day activities. Cities also face frequent power cuts.

Government has no new plans to generate more power to fulfill the need. Every day the usage of electricity is increasing. So, it is unavoidable.

We can bring one solution to the issue ‘minvettu’. We have to announce ‘minvettu’ ourselves instead of electricity board. We could save electricity and money together by the following techniques.

People have to save the power whenever they could. Most of the people not think about the power saving. Few peoples are following the power saving methods, but they are missing some ways. So, everybody must have awareness of the power saving, and follow the techniques to make a difference.

• Always switch off unnecessary fashion lights, light bulbs, fans and other electric appliances which are not needed to work all the times.


• Always switch off the light bulbs and fans even when you are away the room for few minutes.


• Avoid using the light bulbs in day time.


• Try to use sunlight always. Open your windows and let sunshine in.


• Reduce watching Television. It is safe for your eyes.


• Switch to Radio for news and songs.


• Avoid playing video games. It is a time killer activity. You may addict to the game.


• If you feel boring at home, don’t watch TV, go for a walk outside. It is good for your health too.


• Read books instead of watching TV unnecessarily.


• Avoid using electric appliances for day-to-day activities. Make its use minimal as much as possible.


• When you buy appliances consider the energy saving stars.


• Use CFL bulbs instead of regular bulbs. CFL bulbs save more energy than normal bulbs.


• Try to use solar power as much as possible.


• Don’t think like that, having electrical appliances as prestigious matter. If you think about it means you gave up your good health for your prestige. You have to spend more money and suffer a lot at the older age, because of your lazy body.

Just ten or fifteen years before, peoples successfully lived without these appliances. You can find such peoples in your family too.

Why you can’t live without these unnecessary things?

Educate peoples to save power in all possible ways.

Think! Think!! Think!!!

Mottukkinaru

Abandoned well is called ‘Mottukkinaru’ in Tamil. There will be no water in those Wells and fully covered by bush. It looks very weird.

It is uncommon seeing a ‘Mottukkinaru’ in my childhood. It is very rare to find a one. We are very much scared about it. There are lots of rumors spread about the ‘Mottukkinaru’. Ghosts are staying there. Thieves are hiding there, etcetera etcetera.

On the way to my elementary school, there was a ‘Mottukkinaru’. We don’t go near it. We all walk a distance away and cross that area.

Once upon a time these wells are used for agricultural purpose. They might have water that time. We could see the stones and pillars which are used to take water from the well. These wells are dried after years and left it abandoned.

To avoid the children approaching near that wells, elders told ghost stories relating to that well. We all believed that ghost stories are real and scared about the well.

Sometimes I thought, why those ghosts are living there, even there is no water to drink for them. Those ghosts are very poor.

Nowadays these ‘Mottukkinarus’ are increasing around all the places. It is a sign for drought hit. Peoples leave the wells because of no water in it. Ground water level is going down each year.

In childhood, I have seen several times with full of water in my farm well. It is around 70 feet deep. We can touch the water in hand by sitting on the wall. Nowadays it is rare to see 3 feet water in it.

Across India , the ground water level goes down and down. Farmers are suffering to plant their land.

We forgot to maintain the ponds and Lakes. All the ponds and lakes around the cities are destroyed and developed(!) with buildings. Nowadays there are few ponds only existing which are belongs to temples.

All the water we are getting from rain is going to sea without any use. We are forced to get drinking water from miles apart.

We destroyed the ponds and getting purified water from the sea by spending lot of money. What a shame. Government is very proud to do this.

Those ancient kings are not foolish who maintained the ponds and lakes for each and every celebration they had. They had known the meaning of thirsty.

Thirsty is a big word. We have to pay for it all of these ignorances.

Shanthi Akka Family

I met Shanthi akka when we moved to the town from my village. She lived with her parents in the right opposite house. She and my sister have same age. Both of them studied in same class in different schools. So, I called her ‘akka’ (elder sister).

Always I go to her home to watch TV. Especially Friday ‘Olium Olium’ and Sunday Morning ‘Mahabharatham’, ‘HeMan’ and evening Tamil Movie.

Used to watch hindi movies on Saturday evening. Sometimes, I used their home to escape from my father’s study torture.

Making paper bags is Shanthi’s family job. They did this in their home. Their hall fully occupied by the papers and paper bags. In their home everybody makes paper bags. I learned how to make paper bags. It was very easy and convenient one.

In those 90’s most of the shops using paper bags to pack the things. Whatever things you buy at grocery stores, it will be wrapped by the paper or they pack it with paper bags.

I used to read the jokes and articles from the paper bags when we buy things from shops.

Like Shanthi akka family, So many families make paper bags at their convenient times. We could see they take the paper bags to sell in the near by shops.

Paper bags are Eco friendly. It doesn’t make any harmful thing to the earth. Papers are easily biodegradable. Papers are reused as paper bags and recycled.

Few years later, I could see some shops using the plastic bags to pack the groceries. They told, paper bags are tear when we use it for heavy packages. But they used plastic bags for 1 Kg and half kg packing too.

Plastic bags are convenient to Shops, but not to the earth.

We have shifted our home in another part of the town. After that we don’t have that much contact with Shanthi akka family. But we met in few occasions and Diwali festival seasons.

Now all the shops bring 100 percent plastic bag usability. No one using paper bags. So no family needs to make paper bag for their meals. They forced to switch some other jobs. It was painful for them. They can’t make plastic bags at home.

Later Shanthi akka’s father started his career as an agent of a company. Mother stayed at home and watching all the TV programs. Shanthi akka married and went.

Nowadays, nobody is ready to buy paper bags, hence no one at their home making bags.

I don’t know Shanthi akka’s kids know how to make paper bags? Even they know she made paper bags in her school days?

It is pain taking thing when an Eco friendly technique ruined in front of our eyes. Shanthi akka’s family did their part to keep the earth green for few years. What about our part?

Reuse is better than recycle! I agree. You?
